CURes Scientist Joins National Urban Ecology Study

CURes researcher Dr. Michele Romolini received great news this week! She was formally approved as a Co-Principal Investigator of the Baltimore Ecosystem Study (BES). As one of two urban sites in the National Science Foundation’s Long-Term Ecological Research Network, BES seeks to understand how Baltimore’s ecosystems change over time. The program integrates biological, physical, and social sciences. Dr. Romolini worked with Dr. Morgan Grove to complete her dissertation research, which examined environmental stewardship networks and governance in Baltimore and Seattle. This work involved implementing the Baltimore Stewardship Mapping and Assessment Project (Stew–MAP), as part of a national project that she is now working to implement in Los Angeles through her work with CURes and the USDA Forest Service.
