Mother’s Day celebrates the effort all our mothers exhibit as caretakers and nurturers, and this is no different in the bird world. For the fourth year in a row, our first resident couple, Blue Ivy Carter and Sage, are now raising a second clutch of baby bluebirds at LMU this Spring.

Fledglings from the first clutch are coming to the mealworm tray along with Mom and Day.

One of the most fascinating things to see is when Mom removes fecal sacs from the nest box!

Here’s to all the avian Mom’s who, with their partners, work hard to feed their babies and delight us with their presence in our gardens!
This was a magic moment in June when the family gathered to dine together!
